A Word of Welcome
Welcome to the Office of Pastoral Planning’s website, a comprehensive communications hub of information about pastoral planning discussions and activities that are under way throughout the Archdiocese of Hartford.
This site offers a transparent and up-to-date view of how we are all working together to chart the future direction for our beloved Church. In aspiring toward this shared goal, Pope Francis calls us to be “missionary disciples” who are “capable of transforming everything, so that the Church’s customs, ways of doing things, times and schedules, language and structures can be suitably channeled for the evangelization of today’s world rather than for her self-preservation.”
Such transformation requires our heartfelt prayer, personal participation, shared vision, willingness to sacrifice for the common good, and courage, as we discern how best to fulfill the mission of the Archdiocese now and in the future in a way that is spiritually fruitful, vibrant and sustainable.
Pastoral planning is meant to be collaborative, so I invite you to engage with members of the Office of Pastoral Planning by submitting your questions, comments and suggestions using this website.
I ask you to join me in praying for the success of this effort, and take the time to read and reflect on all the materials that are presented here, which will be regularly updated.
Sincerely yours in Christ,
The Most Reverend Leonard P. Blair
Archbishop of Hartford
